History of Atom's World. (By Cam)
Yeah yeah I know a thread with a long description and about history too?!?! What the hell?!?!?!?! For those of you that can't read it all just post your tl;dr comment, get your upvotes and leave because that's the most you can contribute. For those of you still reading I hope you enjoy reading about the history of the channel and if you would like to, give feedback and answer questions.
This channel known as Atom's World, or AW to the regular followers of the community, it was a channel started up by anime fans that wanted to have fun whether it was through roasts, exposure (mainly through screenshots) or just the main fad of the channel, trolling. As they began to make more and more discussions on their channel, users that knew those mods came by and started making threads, then something unbelievable happened, the channel went from just being fun to joyful, intellectual and kenserous discussions. Then that's when it all began what the meaningof AW was, a channel for users to talk about any topic (within the parameters of Disqus's rules and the channel's rules, established by themods) while also allowing, in moderation, the fun of trolling and
triggering that the channel was founded upon.
AW was never meant to be taken as a serious channel and if you ask many of the users what they think of AW the answer you're likely to receive is "...it's a kenserous channel but has interesting discussions." (If you know what kenserous means just skip to the bold) First, for some of those out there that don't get the term kenserous in the quote, kenserous refers to the state of how things are done that you usually wouldn't see be done in the same setting, for example, someone makes an AW thread about Gas Prices and then a couple of users talk about something other than gas prices and thus cause a pile up of comments irrelevant to the topic. At AW when a discussion is made many will swing by and start off with serious comments relevant to the topic but once the thread reaches its end, when it has little to no traffic in comments, users will then begin talking about anything or begin to troll. Over time there rose an issue that users would just be kenserous once they voice their opinion or answer on the topic of the discussion instead of waiting until there is little to no traffic, this posed an issue to serious discussions that deserved sincere and legit commentary. However, this would later not pose a problem, since Yang (one of the mods of AW) came up with the idea of making open threads, where random facts or topics are given and the users to freely talk about the topic of the open thread or about whatever.
It wouldn't be a proper history lesson of AW until you are told about the tale of Kamina's Coup. During the early ages of AW (3-4 months ago), there may have been about ten or less users that were in the community at the time, Atom had appointed Yuki and Kamina as 2nd and 3rd mod of AW, and since both were new to being mod they had to go through the moderation tab and other moderation features to see how it
worked. Well Kamina was struck with curiosity about the ban feature and decided to test it out on Atom. In return AW threads were deleted and Atom was taken off the TC list (and couldn't get back on it for a couple
days) this resulted in the actual first threads disappearing into the Lost Zone. Kamina is known in AW, among the first founders and now to you reading this, as the mod with the power to break a channel by banning the owner.
After this event many of the earlier visitors of this channel, including myself, began laughing athow this event happened. Well Yuki apparently made the channel during the time AFTP, aka Anime For The People, was holding the Anime BotB (Best of the Best) Contest and he told Atom about the channel and made him mod, later on Yuki resigned and Atom gained ownership. A few rounds later in the contest Atom leaves a link for AW and a few people go to comment on the few threads here. About a day or two after that Atom made Yuki and Kamina mods, and the reason that Kamina could ban Atom is because Atom doesn't have the creator's power. Anyway that aside let me continue from this point to now the change overtime.
After
Kamina's Coup QB, Hashirama, and Killua were made mods and the mods decided to make a Discord server to serve as a place to discuss mod business, however, two users slipped in the server when it was posted in
a thread, those two users were Petchy and MajesticKuma. Since Kuma was a mod on other channels and he was on the mod server he was appointed as mod to help out with showing what mods should do in [blank] scenarios. The mods after Kuma were Hajime, Cancer-sama, and Yang. Around one of the appointments, Kuma's or Hajime's, one of the mods thought that we should do mod intros. The mod intros were basically just AMAs and they didn't have much turnout, due to it being a small community of less than thirty visitors around this time, but around Kuma's Mod Intro all of a big flood of people came, mainly to harass Kuma with questions, which was funny to see and since then the amount of comments on threads began increasing.
From then on the channel began changing each thread brought in different people that were new to the community that enjoyed the channel. Some made posts during threads that were active or made threads about wanting to stop receiving invites from the channel, some Einstein level shit right there. The channel also had its share of drama though they were resolved and such that they don't harm its current status. Now the channel has about the same turnout in threads as it had about two months, yeah I encourage people to make threads I mean come on you can talk about anything!!! (though not too kenserous that we need radiation therapy =_= and not so inappropriate that people will cringe from England to China) A major change is in the visitors that come to AW, the first users to come before the channel even got 100-1000 followers have either gone inactive, are not as active, or are more active on other channels.
Some things I left out for the sake of not rambling like a grandma that tells her tale of winning her first
game of bingo are: The AW Cult, Kumamon Cult, QB Cult, Doughnut Holes, the AW general server, the AW Chatroom, and Upvote Fairies.
Of course their may be different views on the history of AW from members, that are still here from the
beginning till now. So they may share their take on this as well which will be great and now the questions.
How did you discover AW?

Do you think there are changes the channel needs to make?
